Description

A Stroll Through Medieval Paris

Some say the best shopping neighborhood in Paris, the Marais is all that and so much more. Located in the historic 3rd and 4th districts, the Marais’s ancient private mansions or « hôtel particuliers », superb museums (The Museum Carnavalet a History of Paris, Cognacq-Jay Museum, and the Picasso museum), great food and bistrots, Paris’s old Jewish quarter, and the stunning symmetry of the Place des Vosges make it an absolute must-see. Wander with me up the rues Vieille du Temple and Francs Bourgeois, two of the neighborhood’s central spines, and discover the charming side streets and the quarter’s many hidden delights.

Highlights on this Walk:

The Tour St Jacques (Meetup Point)
The largest Pedestrian Street center in Europe
The Pompidou center
Fabulous Ice cream
The National Archive Museum (Hôtel particulier Architecture)
A tower from the old wall of Paris in a Pawn Shop
Rue des Rosiers (old jewish Neighborhood)
Place des Vosges (History & Symmetry)
Statue of Beaumarchais (who paid for the intervention of France in the US war of independence)
Village St Paul (antiques)
